Looking through old journals, I see how he broke me. I admit I had forgotten. I remember the nights we screamed, the first time I saw him cry, the tree he ruined with my car, the kiss he stole under the stars, A new, thicker skin covers me. the hands we held, the skin we knew, the soft grass beneath us, covered with the dew, my heart, yours, weld, one becomes two.
